Welcome to my website. I'm in the process of revamping the site so at the moment it consists mostly of image galleries. Below is some information about me, my gear etc. 'It's weird that photographers spend years or even a whole lifetime trying to capture moments that added together don't even amount to a couple of hours.' ~ James Lalropui Keivom The galleries use Lightbox and this site is best viewed with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 or higher. I've been working on a new Flash based site at www.davewcooper.com - check it out, unless you don't have (or don't like) Flash. I hope you enjoy looking thro' the galleries - Thank you. Me, Myself and I ... Hi, my name is Dave Cooper. I'm British born and now live in El Gouna on the Egyptian Red Sea coast although I still have a home on the Isle of Portland, off the Dorset coast. I like to live by the sea and both of these places offer dramatic scenery and have great light quality. I get a huge amount of pleasure from photography - capturing an image which is just a fraction of a second in time and then gone. Whether it's film or digital the image should be treasured. I'm saddened to hear of people who have lost photo collections or even worse have thrown them away, but then to come across someone with a collection spanning many decades is truly awesome. 'Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still' ~ Dorothea Lange. I'm mainly a sports action photographer tending to favour pro kitesurf as it's right here on the door step. That being said I enjoy weddings, wildlife, journalistic or just fun photography. |

Gear and stuff ... Equipment wise ... Yep, I'm a Canon guy - whether it's a wedding, portraits, sports action or whatever. I like the EOS cameras, they just work and work well. When it comes to getting light to the sensors I mostly use Canon EF 'L' series glass ... Love it ... even if it is wallet emptying. Ewa-Marine flexible housings takes care of the things if I'm in or on the water. Manfrotto come up with the goods for supporting things. I use a 21" iMac, or 17" MacBook Pro if I'm on the move, with Apple Aperture, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CS3/CS4 Extended to process images whilst storage and backup are taken care of by external drives consisting of an ever growing number of terabytes. There's loads of other stuff which I can't bring myself to part with or more to point is now worthless like the OM2n 35mm plus lenses or the Nikonos V underwater film camera. I enjoy videography as well and have an aging Sony PD150. These things were so robust and produced broadcast quality video. |
... and for the gear geeks the bag contains ...
